Today, figure out what your Emotional Early Warning System.  Often, your body knows there is a problem before your brain can articulate it.

Do you use a filter? Are you editing your thoughts before sharing them to avoid a specific reaction.

Relief at the absence of someone?  Is there a feeling of relief if someone leaves or cancels plans.

Low-Level Dread: A mild, persistent tightness in your chest or stomach when you think about bringing up a specific topic.


Communication Red Flags

An Erosion Argument -  An argument that isn't explosive but a quiet erosion of quality interaction.

Whatever Argument - Instead of arguing to find a solution, you find yourself saying "fine" or "whatever" just to end the conversation. This is an emotional withdrawal from an argument which has not resolution or intellectual base.

Shift to Logistics - Your conversations no longer have any emotional elements.

Predictable Friction - An argument where one person has predicted the ending of the argument and decided to pursue a failing argument.   


Create a plan for yourself on how you will react if your alarm system is activated.
