The Lent Detox Starts after Mardis Gras / Fat Tuesday
For today:
Deep Clean the Washer
The Tub Clean: Use Clean cycle or use the Heavy Duty or Whites setting with the hottest water available using two cups of vinegar poured into the drum or, look for a washer cleaning kit in the cleaning section of your hardware store.
The Gasket on the Front-Load Only: This rubber ring around the door needs to be cleaned. Wipe it down with a 1:1 solution of vinegar and water. Peel back the folds and use disposable bleach wipes to clear away the grime.
The Filter: Locate the filter door, Place a towel down and open the filter following the instructions for your washer.
Deep Clean the Dryer
The Lint Screen: Wash the screen with warm soapy water once a month to get rid of the waxy film left by Dryer sheets.
The Drum: Wipe the interior drum with a microfiber cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol or stainless steel cleaner to remove any transferred dyes or wax from dryer sheets.
The Exhaust Vent: At least once a year, disconnect the large silver hose from the back of the dryer and vacuum it out, or use a vent cleaning brush kit to clear the path to the outside wall.
